COVERiT NovoWeld
Penetration-free field fastening system
Field fastening without penetrating the waterproofing.
NovoWeld bonds COVERiT NovoProof® EPDM waterproofing by induction welding to load-distribution plates screwed into the substructure. Prefabricated, flame-retardant DA-F sheets are held securely in position without additional ballast.

What is NovoWeld?
NovoWeld is the field fastening system for COVERiT NovoProof® DA-F sheets (also DA-PF in documents) and DA-FG membranes. Coated NovoWeld load-distribution plates are spread evenly across the roof and fasten the entire roof build-up to the substructure. The loose-laid waterproofing lies on top and is welded to the plates point by point with the isoweld® 3000 induction welder. The fasteners stay beneath the waterproofing; the membrane is not drilled through.
The induction welding method was developed in cooperation with a renowned manufacturer of roof fastening systems. After the site survey, a project-specific wind-load calculation defines the grid in which the induction plates are screwed down.
Along roof edges, valleys, upstands and roof penetrations, the sheet is fastened linearly with the NovoWeld system at a spacing of approx. 25 cm.
How NovoWeld works
- Plan and calculate Complete the data collection sheet. A wind-load calculation to DIN EN 1991-1-4/NA determines the number and position of the fixing points.
- Set the plates Mark out the fixing points on the thermal insulation and screw the NovoWeld plates into the substructure with system-tested fasteners.
- Lay the membrane Roll out the NovoProof® DA-F sheet or DA-FG membranes loose. Weld the overlaps homogeneously with ThermoFast® jointing.
- Mark the points Mark the position of the fixing points on the waterproofing.
- Calibrate the tool Switch on the isoweld® 3000 induction welder, select EPDM and enter the membrane thickness.
- Bond by induction Weld every fixing point to the membrane with the hand inductor, directly after laying.
- Let it cool Place a magnet on the weld point for at least 1 minute until it has cooled.
Installation follows the manufacturers’ laying guidelines and the NovoWeld information sheet.
The process in pictures
From fixing the plates to cooling the weld points: photographs from the NovoWeld information sheet show the installation steps from different viewpoints.

Set the plates
Fixing points marked out on the insulation, plates screwed down.

Lay out the sheet
Lay out and align the prefabricated sheet over the fixed plates.

Mark the points
Mark the position of the fixing points on the waterproofing.

Calibrate the tool
Select EPDM and the actual material thickness, then calibrate according to the manufacturer's instructions. The historical display photograph is not a setting specification for the DA-F sheet.

Bond by induction
Weld the fixing point to the membrane.

Let it cool
Place a magnet on the weld point for at least 1 minute.

What sets NovoWeld apart
No penetration of the waterproofing
The fasteners sit beneath the membrane. The waterproofing is welded to the plates, not drilled through.
Independent of sheet edges
The fixing points lie in the field, not in the seam.
Any laying direction
The laying direction of the membrane can be chosen freely.
Insulation fastened as well
The plates fasten the entire roof build-up. No additional fastening of the thermal insulation is needed.
No additional ballast
Prefabricated DA-F sheets are held in position without gravel or paving ballast.
Self-calibrating welder
The isoweld® 3000 is set to EPDM and the membrane thickness and has an integrated safety function.
With the DA-P sheet as well
The induction method can also be combined with the NovoProof® DA-P sheet, for example where the structure cannot carry a heavy green roof and a lightweight green roof is planned.
System properties according to the NovoWeld information sheet. Applies to approved NovoProof® roof build-ups with system-tested fasteners.
Suitable substrates
Timber
Concrete
Profiled steel
NovoWeld is suitable for flat roofs with a timber, concrete or profiled steel substructure. The fasteners are matched to the substrate; with EPS insulation a PAD goes beneath the plate. Only fasteners with a system test may be used.
The exact number of fixing points is determined by a wind-load calculation based on a fully completed data collection sheet.
What the system includes
Components according to the NovoWeld information sheet. Select fasteners by substrate and system test.

NovoWeld load-distribution plate
Coated plate in DIN 6.8 and DIN 16.0, 200 per carton. It is screwed into the substructure and welded to the waterproofing.

isoweld® 3000 induction welder
Self-calibrating induction welding unit. Available for hire, magnet set included.

isoweld® 3000 hand inductor
Placed on the marked point; welds plate and waterproofing.

Plastic sleeve
Sleeve for fastening the plate, length to suit the roof build-up.

Fasteners
Suitable fasteners for timber, concrete or profiled steel, specified as SFS intec in the tender text. System-tested only; not supplied with the plates, quantity per wind-load calculation.

PAD for EPS insulation
Base for the plate on EPS insulation.

Magnet set
10 magnets. They stay on the weld point for at least 1 minute until it has cooled.
