Fixing DA-K

Laying methods

  • Bonded

Choose the system adhesive and application method to suit the substrate.

  • Mechanically fastened

Arrange fasteners according to the project-specific wind uplift design.

  • With ballast

The specified gravel, green roof or trafficable layer secures the loose-laid membrane.

  • Loose-laid

The waterproofing is laid loose; the seams are joined with ThermoFast®.

Installation steps

  • Choose the adhesive Use Adhesive F in the field; Contact adhesive TA or suitable spray contact adhesive at connections.
  • Set the fixings Use approved fixings in the covered seam area. Select type and quantity for the substrate and wind-uplift design.
  • Check the substrate Do not use Adhesive F on unfaced polystyrene, bare bituminous torch-on membranes or hot-applied bitumen coatings.
  • Fix the edges Bonded or mechanically fixed: also fix roof edges, valleys, upstands and roof penetrations linearly with suitable, approved fixings, 4 per metre (see the installation guide).
  • Hot-air weld seams ThermoFast® seams are weldable under site conditions down to approx. −10 °C; carry out trial welds first. Rolls come with a ThermoFast® joining edge along the long side. Also for balconies and terraces.

Planning documents

DA-K declarations of performance to EN 13956 and product data sheet: July 2025. Reaction-to-fire class E to EN 13501-1. The applicable supporting documents depend on the roof build-up.

Our DA-K product data sheet (07/2025) specifies resistance to ozone and UV, fungi and algae, microorganisms and humic acid. Observe the conditions and application limits in the documents.

Compatible system products

Select preformed parts, penetrations and drainage to suit the connection design. Use EPDM versions. For seams and connections as per the data sheet: NovoProof® connection paste, cover tape, rubber support strip and composite metal sheets.

  • Application illustration: fleece backing of a DA-K membrane above strips of surface adhesive

    Surface adhesive F

For bonding the fleece backing of DA-K and DA-S membranes to the roof surface.

Use only on suitable, tested substrates as specified in the adhesive instructions. Not for unfaced polystyrene, bare bituminous welding sheets or hot bitumen coatings.

  • Spray contact adhesive applied to an EPDM upstand connection. Generic application illustration, not liquid Contact adhesive TA.

    Connection adhesives

Spray contact adhesive or Contact adhesive TA for upstands and connections.

Image: spray contact adhesive. Contact adhesive TA is a separate liquid product. Prepare absorbent substrates and metals according to the adhesive instructions.

    Seam fastening

Plates and fasteners for mechanical fixing at membrane seams.

Tested fasteners and plates. The substrate, insulation and wind loads determine the system and fixing layout.

  • Rectangular EPDM preformed part with a continuous connection flange

    Preformed parts

Corners and sleeves for parapets, chimneys and rooflights. Prefabricated, including made-to-measure parts.

  • Installed gravel guard and identical freestanding guard with visible mounting rods.

    Roof drainage

Drain rainwater from the roof. Select an EPDM flange and outlet to suit the roof build-up and drainage design.

  • Roof cable penetration with 180-degree bend, outlet clamp, EPDM flange and long lower pipe.

    Roof penetrations

Route vents and cables through the roof. With a weldable NovoProof® EPDM sleeve.
